Salma Mumtaz played the typical roles as mother in Pakistani movies - died in Lahore. Her first film was Darbar (1958). Qaidi, Aulad, Mouj Mela, Hath Jori, Daachi, Hamrahi, Dil mera dharkan teri, Chan Makhna, Jind Jan, Nei Laila Nya Majnu, Dia aur toofan, Veryam, Andleeb, Dhee Rani, Rangeela, Maa Puttar, Heer Ranjha, Aansoo, Do Rangeelay were some of her big movies. She produced few movies like Puttar da Pyar and Be-Aulad. She was elder sister of actress Shammi, who was married to Sudhir. Her daughter Nida Mumtaz played some roles in few movies.

A Tribute to Salma Mumtaz (1926-2012)
There are many beautiful songs on "mother-relations" in Pakistani movies, but the best and evergreen song on this topic was dedicated to Salma Mumtaz in film Veryam (1969). This song was penned by Ismael Matwala, music composed by Kalay Khan Shabbir, sung by Masood Rana and Munir Hussain, filmed on two great super stars Sudhir and Habib and directed by Raja Hafeez.
